Massachusetts Medicaid exclusion list

ExclusionHQ can't check the Suspended or Excluded MassHealth Providers automatically yet: the state's site refuses downloads from cloud servers. Check it yourself on the state's page and keep a record.

The free check below still covers the federal lists every Massachusetts provider needs: the OIG LEIE and SAM.gov.

Checking the Massachusetts list yourself

Download the current list from the state's page in your browser, search it for each person's surname, and keep the file with the date you checked it.

Check before each person starts and then on the schedule your Medicaid provider agreement sets. For the federal lists, OIG says checking every month best limits the risk, because it updates its list monthly (see monthly exclusion screening).

The Suspended or Excluded MassHealth Providers on the state's site

Massachusetts on the federal lists

Of the people on the OIG exclusion list (the LEIE copy of Nov 6, 2026), 1,648 had a Massachusetts address when they were excluded, 37 of them in the last 12 months. 32% were excluded on the mandatory grounds (convictions for program fraud, patient abuse or neglect, felony health care fraud or felony controlled-substance offences) and 64% after a health care licence was revoked, suspended or surrendered.

The most common professions among them: nurses and nurse aides (873), pharmacy technicians (104) and pharmacists (56).

SAM.gov lists 929 excluded individuals with a Massachusetts address, many of them the same people.

An OIG exclusion covers every federal health care program, in every state, so someone excluded elsewhere who moves to Massachusetts is still excluded here: check every hire against the federal lists, wherever they come from.

Neighboring states

Someone who has worked across the state line can be on that state's Medicaid list without being on Massachusetts's. If you hire from neighboring states, check their lists too:
